Nothing formal – hey, it’s Amsterdam – this is just a ‘gezellig’ way for a bunch of American Democrats to get together on the 1st Saturday of every month, greet familiar faces and hopefully meet some new ones. You don’t even have to be a member of DANL. But if you’d like to join, we’d be happy to sign you up then and there.

We gather every month at the cozy ‘Hole in the Wall’ Irish pub on Leidseplein 8 (in the corner where Boom Chicago is). When you walk in, go straight up the stairs to your left. Sometimes we’re downstairs, where you’ll see us right ahead of you. Look for our sign on the stairs.

If you get a little hungry, the pub has a nice choice of snacks and meals. Many trams stop in the Leidseplein and it’s easily accessible by foot and bike (best not to come by car…very hard to park).

Sinterklaas! Those of you who’ve been in Holland awhile know that today is also Sinterklaas – a very important holiday for families and especially children, celebrating the holy man’s birthday (he’s kind of like Santa Claus but then different). We could still all toast each other at 5 and, if you need to get back for the festivities, we’ll all understand.
